“When the captain/hostess tells you to put your phone on airplane mode, then the fear of flying kicks.
This mix basically represents some much needed music to help me feel good on short haul flights.” BF, 2014
We also caught up with Blackfoot Phoenix on travelling, living in London, and where he’s at now.
2014 so far
2014 so far… hmm well – almost identical to every year that has gone by really, extemporary! But this year has been a little bit different. I’ve seen myself leave my little humble abode in South London to travel different parts of the world on a regular basis.
Beholden to the people who have invited me along this journey and let me discover some of the world, which to be honest with you, has never once crossed my mind. Never dreamt of it… EVER
Growing up, the only country I visited was the motherland, Ghana (that was the norm for me and my siblings). Plus that one time which I can only guess was a contingent decision from my ma to visit my uncle and his wife in Washington DC. I was a toddler then so it kinda means nothing. I only know that from memory of looking through the family photo book. I can also vaguely remember trotting past Barney in the street holding balloons. Never would my parents pay for me to go on a school trip to anywhere outside of London, was always out the question. There was only one country I grew fond off whilst growing up, and that was Japan! Mainly because my uncle lives there. Married to a lovely Japanese women (my aunty) and had beautiful children together (my younger cousins). I’d only seen pictures of them and made a promise to myself that I had to go see them. The 7 year old in me is still curious as to why he traveled the furthest out of all his (my dad’s) brothers, putting himself in a very difficult position.I “ nearly” made it to Japan towards the end of last year, but that plan never came into fruition.
But I did spend three months in Hong Kong, including Christmas in the sun on a beach & New Year’s Eve
(when i decided to go sober, from drink, I don’t take drugs!)
A place I visit regularly & have a love hate relationship with, is France.
But i do have a lot of friends from there. Plus I adore french speaking music.
Ventured into another French speaking country – Morocco, North Africa.
Then had problems trying to enter into Tel Aviv, Israel because of coming from an Islamic religion country and then entering a “Judaism” country. After a brutal interrogation they let me & my friends in.Plus they had to! Bradley’s picture is blasted in the airport, which he’s still trying to get compensation for (should of read that small print mate)
Straight from New York to Portugal (24hours)
