The extraordinary “The Floating Piers” at Lake Iseo by internationally renowned artist Christo,
a 16-day installation (ending 3 July) that forms a floating walkable boardwalk on the lake.
The artwork was initially conceived in 1970 by Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude who passed away in 2009, but Christo continues their ideas and vision even at 81 years of age.

This installation is made from 90,000 square meters of shimmering yellow fabric produced by textile
manufacturer Setex from Greven, Germany. From here the fabric is fixed atop 200,000 high-density
polyethylene cubes (floating in the lake and part-anchored to the lake floor), manufactured over a period of eight months at a factory in Fondotoce at Lago Magiore.

Currently, the two small islands Monte Isola and San Paolo hosting the work have received an enormous
amount of visitors (tens of thousands), with guests sun-baking and relaxing on the piers,
experiencing the location in a completely new way.

The monumental installation runs until July 3, 2016.
