Glaswegian designer Eilish Macintosh finished her MA at Central Saint Martins this year being the only one to show two collections at the London Fashion Week CSM show and won the coveted L’Oreal Bursary Award presented to her by another Glaswegian designer, Christopher Kane.
Eilish is now in Paris designing for Lanvin, and curious to know, we asked her why she initially wanted to pursue a career in fashion, “I think I decided I wanted to study fashion or textiles when I was about 13. I liked reading fashion magazines and was interested in design. I had also visited London and was dying to go and live there.”
Her inspiration comes from finding a new material or fabric to work with which she says can actually be a good place to start when designing. Also the Central Saint Martins library, “…it’s great to see the V&A museum and what people are wearing.” We are also fans of people-watching, optimistically viewing each individuals style and grace – with this perspective, we know Eilish is a conscious designer to certainly watch.
