PARK-ING GINZA – MIDNIGHT MARKET
16 July 2016
THE PARK-ING GINZA
Last Friday, the Park-ing Ginza altered their opening hours for an unusual yet stellar idea and event.
The Midnight Market began from midnight until 3am, showcasing a variety of personal goods from local
Tokyo designers and creatives; Shinsuke Takizawa, Muro, Ryo Ishikawa, Tetsu Nishiyama to name a few.
Rare vinyls, t-shirts and even a Japanese Twin Peaks VHS set were amongst some of the personal goods on
offer, including a vintage range of bakelite sunglasses (almost straight out of Blade Runner!)
Alongside market goods, the Midnight Market also launched a limited line of t-shirts from The Park-Ing Ginza,
a collaboration with Bonjour Records and PHIRE WIRE, accompanied by youtube DJ sets from
Misha (P.A.M), Kiri (PHIRE WIRE), Cali Thornhill Dewitt and Masatoshi Uemura.
Designed by architect Nobuo Araki / The Archetype (left), with staff member Jun (right), the PARK-ING
GINZA is located underground at the SONY building’s B3 floor, maintaining a simple approach for a minimal,
yet industrial feel. Exposed concrete and metal piping dominate the neutral space, sectioned by additional
galvanised steel fencing for each individual space of brands such as Nike, Descendent, Retaw, Denim By (Vanquish).
